Latest News at ABCNews – Current Jobs of the Month – Image Gallery – Trade Show Schedule - FAQ Monthly Newsletter - Charlie Smith, PresidentNote: See Previous Newsletter November 2008 - Greetings! It's not an excuse, if it is true… I want to apologize for not getting this out last month. Things are moving fast, and we have a bunch of new stuff going on. Hurricane Ike hit Houston/Galveston about 6 weeks ago. The winds were not that strong, but strong enough to cause a huge disruption to the city. Lots of trees and power lines down, but not wholesale wind destruction like Rita or Katrina. Not of course unless you had a building along the coast that got hit by the storm surge; then it was toast. Update on Steel Steel pricing: The price of steel is coming back down some, and we will be revising our pricing for jobs bidding for delivery after the first of the year. We will reduce our fuel surcharge immediately for sales orders going forward. There are several schools of thought as to what will happen in the spring with steel prices, and I think it will be clearer in January or February. Deal Deals Deals. We have several hundred thousand pounds of inventory that got wet during Ike. We were reimbursed by our insurance company and want to get rid of it at a considerable discount. This is all seconds now and would best be used on a low budget, low slope re-roof. If you have any candidates for this let us know. We have all types of colors. We can also run R or M panels from this material. I plan to use a bunch as inside liner panels on our new building. I also have a bunch of inventory at the coater that has cross brakes or light dents. We are talking $0.50 to $.90 per sqft. We also have a pallet of 100 evergreen flat sheets that have a repeating dent right down the middle. The dent can be placed in the back or flange of a gutter or on the flange of an eave trim. We will sell those for half price. New brochure Our new, bigger, better brochure is finally out, and it is really nice. Brian Selig and Madeleine O'Carroll have done a great job putting this thing together with the help of Lorraine Okun Nogee. We have significantly increased our product line with the following: Roof Panels - 238T: This is our new Flagship standing seam roof panel. It is a 2 3/8" tall symmetrical T-rib panel that has too many advantages over traditional mechanically seamed structural panels to list here, but here are a few. The biggest item is that you can remove and reinstall or replace individual panels from the field of the roof if there is damage or you want to add a curb later. You can pre-install your clips on the roof, start the installation where ever you want on the roof plane, use hip or valley cuts on the same roof plane, and the clip is punched for bar joists as well as purlins or solid deck. We offer a continuous clip that in most cases eliminates the need for additional framing in the edge zones in open frame re-roof or retrofit applications. That means you don't have to open up 25 or 30' of roof to add purlins in order to meet the wind code.
Soffit Panel - UD Liner: This is an 18" wide flush panel that is designed to cover the underside of a metal deck of a walkway canopy that has a modified or built up roof on it. This really looks nice.
Wall/Fascia Panel - Wave: this is our 16" wide asymmetrical ribbed wall panel for horizontal applications. We offer notched corner and jamb trim as well as factory made corner panels.
- V-7: this is a 7" wide ribbed panel for vertical wall or fascia applications.
- Big and Little Shadow: These are modified upside down standing seam panels designed to be installed on a wall.
- FW Series: Our entry into the 1 ½" deep flush wall panel will be here at the first of the year. This panel can be flush or can have up to a 6" wide reveal.
Exposed Fastener Wall panels - 7/8" Corrugated
- 7.2" box rib
- 4" box rib
Trim - ANSI-SPRI-ES1 rated factory coping up to 32' long in 24-gauge. You make your corners.
Zinc - We are introducing ABC DuraZinc™. Our private label US Made pure zinc with a 5 mil Plastisol backer. We can use DuraZinc™ to manufacture almost any of our products. We can sell coil or flats also. We have inventory so if you need zinc, call ABC.

Archzilla!
All of these re-roofs had one thing in common. The existing metal roof had leaky end laps and that is what caused the roof to be replaced. LONG LIVE ARCHZILLA™! Soon we will have Archzilla™'s big Brother the High Roller: Note the Wayne Newton mustache. Thank you Todd Hewitt. Charlie Smith Architectural Building Components 281-931-3986 www.archmetalroof.com |
