RETROFIT METAL ROOFING

We have worked to generate engineer tested retrofit frame systems to allow for a new metal roof system that satisfies local building code requirements.

Navigational Note

If you know which product best fits your application, you can select either the 200 Series or the 300 Series, as both work with the retrofitting metal roof system.

Retrofit Metal Roofing

With new metal roofs, the designers, engineers, and manufacturers have the opportunity to create a system that satisfies building codes rather easily.  When an existing metal roofing system requires a replacement, the challenges can mount.  One of the greatest challenges is a lack of structural framing to satisfy calculated pressures.  For example, a number of metal building systems had metal roof panels applied over consistent 60” or greater purlin spacing (commonly panels like ABC’s PBR Panel).  In many of these applications, additional purlins are required below the existing metal roofing.  In these instances, a better alternative is a new retrofit framing system installed on the old metal roof.

Roof Hugger

Architectural Building Components and Roof Hugger have worked together to generate engineer tested retro-fit frame systems to allow for a new metal roofing system that satisfies local building code requirements.  Since we do a great deal of business along the Gulf Coast, we are always thinking about wind uplift requirements. We do this using ABC’s 200DL and custom notched zee suited to provide a smooth surface above the original metal roof.

We have performed numerous ASTM E 1592 tests in the attempt to show that we can meet or exceed stringent wind uplift requirements.  Reference our Florida Building Code Approval.

What you get with a retrofit metal roof system

  1. Operations can often continue as usual, since there is no exposure to the interior of the building.
  2. There is an opportunity to add additional insulation for improved energy efficiency and internal comfort.
  3. Satisfy the current building code requirements
  4. Improve the overall appearance of your facility
  5. Lastly, STOP THE LEAKS!  Remember that we can manufacture standing seam metal roof panels in continuous lengths up to 250’ as a part of our standard system.

Call one of our knowledgeable area metal roof specialist for an evaluation of your facility’s metal roof and ask if a retro-fit solution would work in your situation.
